The simplest way to connect Shopify starts with adding a Shopify module in your Make.com scenario. This method allows you to perform various operations like creating products, managing orders, and handling product variants. You’ll need to input your Shopify subdomain (the ‘XYZ’ part of ‘XYZ.myshopify.com’) and authorize the connection through a popup window.
Advanced API Connection Setup
For more complex automations requiring custom API calls or GraphQL operations, you’ll need to create a dedicated app in Shopify. Here’s the process:
- Navigate to Apps and Sales Channels in Shopify
- Select “Develop Apps”
- Create a new app (e.g., “make.com app”)
- Configure appropriate scopes (such as read and write files)
- Install the app and save the revealed API token
Setting Up API Connection in Make.com
To utilize the API connection in Make.com, you’ll need to create a custom connection by:
- Adding a Shopify module
- Selecting “Make a GraphQL API call”
- Choosing “Shopify custom and private apps”
- Entering your domain and admin API access token
This setup enables you to perform advanced operations like uploading in-content images and creating complex blog posts with featured images. The API connection provides more flexibility and control over your automated workflows compared to the basic connection method.
